HISTORICAL PRESENT
Conversation not just about but with the great minds of the past.
We help families connect to the best of the Western civic tradition in order to experience personal transformation in light of the truth of God’s word.
We like to describe what we do as “thinking in the historical present” – connecting with the text in a firsthand way, thinking through what the authors are saying along with them. We do this because truth is unchanging, so we need not limit our teachers to those who are our historical contemporaries.
We’ll begin publishing reading plans soon – stay tuned!
“Inquire of the historic page, and let your own observations second the inquiry.… And when compared, learn to cultivate those dispositions, and to practice those virtues which tend most to the benefit and happiness of mankind.”
Abigail Adams to John Quincy Adams, May 26, 1781
